Warwick Farm filly Tulla Touch extended her unbeaten run with an on-pace victory at her home track on Wednesday.
The Yarradale Stud homebred had won at Scone and Gosford before coming to town for the Australian Turf Club Hcp (1000m). Settling in the leading division after a speed battle from the barriers, she drifted wide around the corner but balanced up to defeat Darley filly Engagement by a nose.
Tulla Touch started a $3.50 favourite and cut out 1000 metres in a quick 57.29s. The win increased her earnings to $63,475 in prizemoney and BOBS bonuses.
"She was stepping up to metro company and fought back to beat a handy filly,” trainer David Vandyke said. “There’s a lot going for her and she will be an even better filly next time.
“I will wait to see how she’s pulls up but we will definitely look around for another race before she goes out.”
Tulla Touch (3f Exceed And Excel – Heather by Grand Lodge) is raced by Yarradale owner Ron Sayers and Segenhoe Stud’s Kevin Maloney. She is by Australia’s reigning champion sire from a mare who had won up to Group 2 level in the 2001 Emancipation Stakes at Randwick.
Tulla Touch made $80,000 at the 2012 Yarradale Stud yearling sale and Maloney took up a standing offer from Sayers who agrees to buy back up to 50% of all graduates from his on-site sale at Gidgegannup.
Her dam Heather has an unnamed 2yo filly by Yarradale sire Discorsi with trainer Steve Wolfe and she is due to the Stud’s Kentucky shuttler War Chant in October.
