An impeccably bred daughter of War Chant topped Day 1 of the Perth Magic Millions at Belmont Park on Tuesday.
Catalogued as Lot 120, she was snapped up by Yarradale Stud for $250,000 after a spirited bidding battle. Three different parties bid after the price passed $200,000 but it was Yarradale owner Ron Sayers who saw off the others when the hammer fell.
Presented by Dawson Stud, the filly is a half sister to 7 winners from as many runners for the stakes winning Bletchley Park mare Most Secret. Her siblings include Group 1 winner Covertly and fellow stakes winners So Secret and Secret Link.
"The first local crop of War Chant were hotly sought after," Magic Millions Perth Manager David Houston said. "The foresight of Yarradale Stud and Geisel Park Stud to invest in a stallion of the profile of War Chant captured the imagination of the Western Australian thoroughbred industry."
With 20 yearlings sold, War Chant's yearlings averaged $97,000.
