Frost Giant colt Loki's Vengeance captured his first stakes win as an odds-on favourite in LR Times Square Stakes (1300m) at Aqueduct on Sunday.

The Michael Hushion trained sprinter stalked the pace and then drew clear to score by over a length.  "I had a lot of horse,” jockey Manny Franco said.  “And when you have the horse, you can do whatever you want."

Loki’s Vengeance (3c Frost Giant – Subtle Sweetness by During) had completed his juvenile year with a 5 length victory at Aqueduct in December.  “He's a nice horse, a fast horse," Hushion said.  "We will look at the Mike Lee Stakes at Belmont in a month.  He's a heavy, thick horse and his pedigree says he should go farther."

Sunday’s victory in the colts division of the $100,000 New York Stallion Series improved his record to 3 wins in 6 starts and $161,200 in prizemoney for Blue Bison Stable.

Loki’s Vengeance is the fifth stakes winner for Frost Giant who shuttles from New York to Yarradale Stud.  He had earned a black-type placing in the LR Capossela Stakes in March before pressing the pace and fading in the G3 Bay Shore Stakes on April 5.

Bred by Andrew Cohen, who manages Frost Giant at Keane Stud, he is the first foal out of Subtle Sweetness, a multiple winner who has three more foals on the ground by Frost Giant - a 2yo colt, a yearling colt and a filly foaled on April 4.

Frost Giant (Giant’s Causeway) won the G1 Suburban Hcp at Belmont Park and has been an immediate success at stud winning the first and second-season titles for New York based stallions.

He covered 73 mares for $9,900 (inc gst) in his first southern book at Yarradale Stud last year.
