Discoville landed the latest Belmont win from the first crop of Discorsi on Wednesday.

The Neville Parnham homebred broke through in the Crown Perth Hcp (1700m).  He had finished midfield first-up behind fellow Discorsi gelding Settler’s Creek at Belmont last month.

Discoville (3g Discorsi – Wingsville by Higginsville) was specked from $31 to start at $14 and was always travelling smoothly for Parnham’s son Brad.  “I guess the on-pace bias didn’t his usual style of racing but Brad manoeuvred him into a good spot.  The horse tracked up and did the rest in the straight.”

The winner should get over further ground – his dam Wingsville won a Birthday Cup in Perth and 8 other races up to 2200m for the late Harold Parnham.  She was also runner-up to Kim Angel in the 1999 Belmont Oaks.

Yarradale Stud based Discorsi is by world-champion Galileo who sired his 175th stakes winner courtesy of Galiway in the LR Prix le Fabuleux (1800m) at Maisons-Laffitte on Tuesday.

Galileo smashed the world-record for a yearling for 2014 when Coolmore Stud’s M V Magnier bought the half-brother to Group 1 star Harbinger at the Tattersalls October Sale this week.  The colt cost the equivalent of AUD 4.99 million.

Discorsi was a Flemington stakes winner and is a half-brother to champion Sunspeed sire Oratorio (Aus).  Yarradale stands him for a $3,850 (inc gst) service fee.
