Vital Equine (Ire) has marked his relocation to Rosalee Park by siring LR Hannans Hcp (1400m) winner Socially Unique.
Yarradale Stud retained ownership of Vital Equine when transferring him to Rosalee Park in Serpentine last month.
Starting a $3.80 favourite, Socially Unique improved his strike-rate to 9 wins in 18 starts with a narrow victory over Reflectance (Redoute’s Choice) and Flying Time (Heritage). “I thought I was going to hold on by the best part of a length,” jockey Willie Pike explained. “But the second horse really attacked the line and we were lucky to get the bob.”
Pike is riding in rare form and the Hannans was the highlight of a record-breaking haul in Kalgoorlie on Thursday. “It’s very satisfying,” he said after booting home 6 winners. “I couldn’t ask for much more and to get the big one is worth savouring.”
Socially Unique (5g Vital Equine - Touched by Angels by Don’t Say Halo) is a homebred for Jason and Raquel Reid and he descends from Heytesbury Stud’s G2 Champion Fillies Stakes winner Surfside Lady (Pago Pago).
The Hannans was the second black-type success for Vital Equine (Danetime) and it was the first at that level for Grant and Alana Williams since starting their training partnership on August 1.
