Gingerbread Man will make another statement if his filly Mystery Affair reproduces her trial form in the Heineken Plate (1000m) at Ascot on Saturday.

The David Harrison trained youngster sold for $30,000 at this year’s Perth Magic Millions and she’s bred to jump the blocks following a winning Lark Hill hit-out on October 17.

Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) won the 2010 Magic Millions Juvenile Championship in Singapore and launched his stud career with first-up winner Achernar Star at Belmont on October 1.

There’s also a precocious streak in the bottom half of Mystery Affair’s pedigree through her half-sister Flying Affair.  She blitzed an Ascot juvenile by four lengths on debut in February 2011 and then grabbed a Listed win in the Gimcrack Stakes.

A week after Achernar Star’s victory, trainer Cliff Brown took a Gingerbread Man colt back to Singapore from the Magic Millions 2YO Sale on the Gold Coast.  Prepared by Kenmore Lodge owners Cameron & Kelly Bond, he’s from General Nediym sprint winner Fontaine’s Fantasy and cost $60,000.

“He was first in the ring on the second day and Cliffy really liked him,” Kelly Bond said.  “He did everything right leading up to the sale even though he’s probably more of a three year-old.”

Brown saw plenty of Gingerbread Man’s rear-end running second to him with Clear For Action (G1 Singapore Guineas) and Zac Influence (G2 Singapore 3YO Classic).

Gingerbread Man stands at Yarradale Stud for a $5,500 (inc gst) service fee.
