Yarradale Stud stallion War Chant (USA) is a bona-fide Group 1 sire in Australia after Silent Sedition’s victory in the MVRC William Reid Stakes on Friday but there’s a lasting legacy from his final crops at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky.

His penultimate northern-hemisphere runners are now three year-olds and among them is last week’s regally-bred winner French Command.  He was unhurried in the early sectionals of a Gulfstream Park turf maiden before motoring home for an easy score over 1600m.

French Command (3c War Chant - Padmore by French Deputy) was coming off an unplaced debut last month for trainer George Arnold and jockey Corey Lanerie.

His dam Padmore has already foaled German Group 2 winner King Of Sydney (Diesis), Champion Canadian Filly Leigh Court (Grand Slam) & Listed Colleen Stakes winner Barracks Road (Elusive Quality).

And his year-older half-brother Star Hill (Elusive Quality) won a Gulfstream Park 3yo maiden this time last year before graduating to Group 2 placings in the Tampa Bay Derby, Woody Stevens Stakes and Indiana Derby.

Silent Sedition has helped War Chant rise to third on the WA sires’ table with earnings of $1.71 million this season.
