Former Perth mare Vital Importance is racing in career-best form for Neville Parnham in Victoria.
The 6yo daughter of Vital Equine (Ire) notched her 10th win in 46 starts despite a wide trip in the Catanach's Jewellers Hcp (1200m) at Caulfield. She’s unbeaten first-up since arriving in the east winning at $19 at Sale in October and at $26 on Saturday.
Travelling foreman Mark Sestich is looking after Vital Importance and her stablemate Malibu Style who won the LR Bel Esprit Stakes at Caulfield last month.
“She was very strong today and Mark reckons there’s more improvement to come,” winning jockey Andrew Mallyon said. “She was always travelling like a winner behind a hot tempo and we got a lovely cart into the race.
“She put them away with authority in the last furlong – the result was never in doubt.”
Vital Importance is owned in partnership by Parnham and his wife Carol and has earned $530,300 including Westspeed bonuses of $80,000. She’s the final foal of French Knickers (Dehere) and cost just $5,000 from Gervase Park at the 2012 Perth Magic Millions.
Vital Equine is climbing up the WA sires’ table this season with Listed winners Material Man (Bunbury Cup) and Socially Unique (Hannan's Hcp) helping him through $1 million in progeny prizemoney.
Yarradale Stud stands him in association with Rosalee Park owners Wayne & Tracey Rodwell. The Serpentine couple can be contacted on 0417 994 079.
