Yarradale Stud sires filled out a trifecta at Northam last Thursday and they shut the gate again at Belmont on Wednesday.

Vital Dancer (Vital Equine) edged out Zedstorm (City Place) in the Iron Jack Hcp and Alcina (War Chant) did best of the rest in an eventful Class 3 over 1000m.

The winner dumped Troy Turner on the way to the barriers but made amends with a gutsy display at the business end.  It broke a long run of outs going back to a Bunbury win in October 2017.

“He was stretching out during the prelim and suddenly went left and I went right!” Turner explained.  “He ran well here a fortnight ago which was encouraging.  He boxed on and that was lacking last prep.”

It continued the good run being enjoyed by Turner and trainer Brett Pope.  They won the LR Belmont Classic with Rivalry Galore (Trade Fair) last Saturday.

“He was carrying on like a pork-chop earlier today,” Pope revealed as Turner brought the gelding back to scale.  “I’ve kept him fresh and he’s improved since coming back into work.”

Vital Dancer’s dam Double Feature (Nadeem) is a half-sister to Occurrence (Choisir) who was Group 1 placed in the 2008 Queen of the Turf Stakes at Canterbury.  The mare was covered by Vital Equine again last year.

War Chant (USA) leads the Yarradale roster at an $11,000 service fee this year with Gingerbread Man, Bradbury’s Luck, Heritage and Vital Equine (Roselee Stud) all priced at $4,400.

Vital Equine (Ire) stands at Roselee Stud in Serpentine by arrangement with Yarradale.  He has sired winners in 10 countries and there have been 10 stakes performers in Australia led by G2 Perth Cup winner Material Man.
