First-starter Hostile Talk went out an even-money favourite for the WA Racing Podcast Maiden (1000m) on Wednesday and the result was never in doubt once Willie Pike went for home at Ascot.

The untapped 3yo son of Yarradale Stud sire War Chant (USA) cruised to a three-length victory from Bronte’s Dream (Dream Ahead) and Torpedoman (Street Boss). “He showed us he was pretty good at the Lark Hill trials and he extended like a very smart horse today,” co-trainer Grant Williams said.

“He’s still needs more educating so we will give him a couple of weeks before coming back for another 1000m race.”

Hostile Talk (Photo / Western Racepix) is the latest of 8 winners foaled by Lip Service and among them is LR Challenge Stakes (1500m) winner Express Service (Danehill Express). The mare was pensioned in June and her final foal is a 2yo colt by Long Leaf.

“He’s raw and doesn’t let you use all the gears yet but once moulded he should be a very nice horse,” Pike said following the on-pace victory. “The speed went out of the race when a couple of 100-1 pops thought they would be a bit clever but he was too good.”

Stormchaser is another promising 3yo with a Yarradale connection. He is trained by Luke Fernie and was black-type placed in the LR Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic (1400m) on December 2 after wins at Belmont and Bunbury. Yarradale and Simon York bred him using Godolphin Group 1 winner Impending (Lonhro) over LR Gimcrack Stakes winner Chantski (War Chant).

Yarradale has entered an Earthlight (Ire) half-sister to Stormchaser among 24 lots catalogued by the Gidgegannup stud for the Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale in February.
