Yarradale Stud owner Lyn Sayers and stud manager Davy Hanratty will commence a rebuilding process when the Magic Millions National Sale gets underway later this month.
It signals a new era for the Gidgegannup farm and follows a gradual across-the-board reduction of its livestock numbers since the death of Ron Sayers in May 2022. “The Yarradale brand is thriving and we’re looking forward to a bright future with excellent facilities and a professional team,” Hanratty said this week. “We’re coming off some outstanding results at the Perth Magic Millions with our highest-ever gross ($2.28 million) and our top-priced Brazen Beau colt selling to China Horse Club for $375,000.
“Lyn and I will head to the Gold Coast to hopefully purchase some nice young commercial mares and the focus will be on quality over quantity. We could also purchase a fashionable new stallion in the next 12 months.”
Gingerbread Man is doing a great job holding the fort at Yarradale since War Chant (USA) succumbed to the infirmities of old age last month. The 16 year-old son of Shamardal is a Top 10 WA stallion with recent Ascot winners Enchanting Sound, Spice is Right and Born And Bread. His flag-bearer Red Can Man isn’t far away from another black-type victory after a Group 3 placing the Northam Stakes (1300m) on Sunday.
“We’ve also enjoyed a lot of recent success with the likes of Malkar Pindari, Lexington City, Storm Chaser and Wuban Gold,” Hanratty added. “And our iron-horse Valour Road is set for another campaign after winning a Belmont trial for Simon Miller last week.”
Yarradale has a host of young stock coming through including unraced 3yo Last Stylebender (Harry Angel) who won two trials at Belmont last month. He’s the first foal from Saturia (War Chant) and Yarradale kept a share after he sold for $100,000 to Mitch Pateman at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.
Gingerbread Man stands for $5,500 (inc GST) and for bookings or further information, call Davy Hanratty on 0429 326 904
