Ain’t No Other Man is the horse to beat in the Westspeed Platinum Series Final (1400m) on December 7 after an effortless Heat 1 victory at Ascot on Saturday.
The Gingerbread Man gelding had been in work since June without winning before racing returned to Ascot earlier this month. That sparked an overdue win a fortnight ago and he doubled up after receiving the run of the race behind front-runner Chad’s Me Dad (Universal Ruler).
Ain’t No Other Man (Photo / Western Racepix) is homebred for Wally Daly and he’s a big supporter of Gingerbread Man having booked 7 mares to the son of Shamardal (USA) at Yarradale Stud this season.
“He’s a great little horse for the stable and it’s always a pleasure to bring him to the races,” co-trainer Jake Casey said as the winner returned to scale with apprentice Brayden Gaerth.
“He loves it here at Ascot and is suited by the shorter straight which helps when he kicks off the corner. He’s been up awhile but we will keep him ticking over and hopefully keep him winning in higher rated races.”
Ain’t No Other Man can double up in next month’s $100,000 Westspeed Platinum Series Final for Yarradale after War Chant (USA) mare Here’s Dreaming won last year’s Westspeed Platinum Autumn Final (1200m).
Yarradale was also in the frame on Thursday with Galaxy Affair in the Geraldton Freemasons Hcp (1400m). The Merchant Navy gelding had won at Ascot and Belmont as a 2yo and 3yo and has now earned $192,000 for Pearce Racing.
Galaxy Affair is the first foal of Yarradale-bred mare Wild Ava (High Chaparral) who is a half-sister to G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) winner Ima Single Man (Gingerbread Man). They were both bred by Yarradale from LR Supremacy Stakes winner Single Spice (Not A Single Doubt).
Single Spice has a 2yo Toronado (Ire) filly that was a $120,000 buy for First Light Racing out of the Yarradale draft to this year’s Perth Magic Millions. Yarradale also welcomed a Playing God – Single Spice colt at Gidgegannup in August.
Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) is standing for a $5,500 (inc GST) service fee at Yarradale this season and stud manager Davy Hanratty can be contacted for bookings or further details on (08) 9574 6490 or 0429 326 904.
