Nonesospicy had to pass a vet inspection behind the barriers before completing a winning hat-trick in the Racing Towards Better Plate (1000m) at Ascot on Saturday.

The Gingerbread Man filly sat at the girth of front-runner Nicely Played (Nicconi) and let down in the straight to score by the best part of two lengths for owner-breeder Wally Daly.  She wasn’t sighted behind Gold Flakes (Playing God) on debut at Ascot in April but has come back the finished article this prep.

There was a scare in the camp when Willie Pike requested a vet inspection for the odds-on favourite when they arrived at the gates.  “I think she struck herself coming out of the mounting yard and didn’t feel quite right.  I got the clerk to lead us around to the start and she felt much better the closer we got the barriers.

“It obviously didn’t affect her once we jumped.  She’s ultra professional and gave herself every chance out of the gates.”

Graduating from a midweek maiden to Saturday company within a month has sent her earnings to $162,000 with Westspeed Bonuses kicking in $79,000.  Co-trainer Jake Casey anticipates more prizemoney coming their way when Nonesospicy goes around in the $125,000 Westspeed Platinum Sires Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on December 21.

“We know her family well and she could be the best of them,” Casey said.  “She jumps and then switches off until Willie pushes the button.  That was very impressive and her dam is a great cross with Gingerbread Man.”

It’s well-documented Wally Daly is a Gingerbread Man fan and Nonesospicy is the second winner by the Yarradale Stud sire from There'snonesosassy (Due Sasso) following stablemate Ain't No Other Man who has earned $478,000 to date.  The mare’s most recent foal is a yearling colt by Maschino.

Former Yarradale resident War Chant (USA) sired his latest new winner when Great Edition landed the Orange Pumps Maiden (1200m) at Bunbury on Sunday.  Bred by Yarradale in partnership with trainer Neville Parnham, he made $150,000 at last year’s Perth Magic Millions.

Great Edition’s dam Edition (Duporth) hails from the family of Yarradale filly Born Priceless (Pricelessly) who won the G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) in 2001.  The mare has a Gingerbread Man 2yo filly and her latest two foals are fillies by Playing God.

There’s more success in the pipeline with Yarradale graduates Country God (Playing God), She's Perfection (Lean Mean Machine) and Soldier Of God (Playing God) all winning at the Belmont barrier trials on Monday morning.
