Gingerbread Man mare Run Pattie Run unleashed a brilliant burst to win first-up at Bunbury on Thursday after being sidelined for twelve months with a serious leg injury.

Run Pattie Run is trained by Raquel Williams in Collie for owner-breeder Faye Ramsay and she zoomed down the outside for Joe Azzopardi to defeat Alma Mater (Al Maher) and Just Famous (Justify) in the TABtouch Hcp (1200m).

“She got caught up in a fence and is was that bad the tendon was exposed,” Faye recalled.  “It obviously took a long time to nurse her back and she’s very lucky to have recovered.”

Run Pattie Run (4m Gingerbread Man - Pattie Me Lass by Lords A Leaping) had won a her maiden at Bunbury in October 2023 and is bred to keep improving as a half-sister to Paddy's Shadow (Dane Shadow) who won consecutive LR Bunbury Cups (2200m) in 2021 and 2022.

He was bred by Faye’s husband Dennis and they’re known throughout the industry as operators of Ramsay’s Horse Transport.  So are their black colours with white sleeves and white cap.

They have been breeding from the family for five generations going back to High Climber (Straight Flight) who foaled Clever Jev (Jevington) to win the G3 WA Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) in 1996.

Pattie Me Lass has been a regular visitor to Yarradale Stud stallion Gingerbread Man in recent years.  Run Pattie Run was their first foal and their latest are an unnamed 2yo colt and a yearling colt.  The mare is back in foal to him off a September cover last year.

“We love Gingerbread Man and the colts were broken-in by Scruffy Bowtell,” Faye said.  “They’re with Sean Casey and he's giving them time.”

Soldier Of God put Yarradale in the frame at Northam on Monday winning the Dunnings Maiden (1300m).  Ridden a treat by Troy Turner, he eased off the fence into the straight and gave favourite punters no cause for concern to score by over a length from La Excellence (Barbados).

He was bred and sold by Yarradale for $75,000 at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions and was appearing first-up for trainer Paul Jordan and a partnership managed by his wife Laura.

Soldier Of God (3g Playing God - Soldier's Lass by Soldier's Tale) helped Playing God extend his lead at the top of the WA 3YO table with 22 winners of 34 races for $2.37 million in prizemoney.

His dam Soldier's Lass won the LR Matchmaker Classic (1400m) at Ascot in 2014 and he follows her War Chant (USA) winners War Warrior and Warpipes.

Second-dam Arabian Lass (Al Mufti) was a $60,000 buy for Yarradale at the 2008 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.  She had been voted South Africa’s Champion 2YO and 3YO Filly in 1995 and 1996 and was initially imported to Australia by Robert Sangster in 2003.

Yarradale will stand Gingerbread Man for a $5,500 service fee (inc GST) this year. For bookings or further information, contact stud manager Davy Hanratty on 0429 326 904.
