Yarradale Stud stallions and graduates completed another very successful week for the Gidgegannup nursery on Sunday with Aurora Queen (War Chant) at Northam and Perfectday (Gingerbread Man) in Hong Kong.

The first of its five winners last week had arrived with Soldier Of God (Playing God) at the King’s Birthday meeting at Northam on Monday and he was followed by Run Pattie Run (Gingerbread Man) at Bunbury on Thursday.

On Saturday, it was the turn of Yarradale Stud’s Magic Millions graduate Wubin Gold (Shooting To Win) albeit in a dead-heat decision at Pinjarra leading into the international double on Sunday.

Wubin Gold was bred in partnership with Dawson Stud owner Graham Daws and she charged home to share the spoils with Objectify (No Nay Never) in the Swan Draught Hcp (1200m) around the Scarpside circuit for trainer Colin Webster.

He bought her for $30,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions and the mare has now banked $264,700 including Westspeed Bonuses $58,300 for a partnership that includes Colin’s wife Lyn and Yarradale’s Lyn Sayers.

Stable jockey Troy Turner settled with the tailenders but timed his finish to near-perfection getting on the back of Beau Zoom (Brazen Beau) before launching late for his old boss.  “Troy said her first-up race was run miles too slow and we got more speed up front today,” Webster recounted.

“She’s a good honest mare and likes the sting out of the ground so hopefully, with winter coming on, she can go to the next level.”

Wubin Gold carries some of the best bloodlines available in WA.  Her dam War Of Whispers (War Chant) is a half-sister to 2005 G1 Railway Stakes (1600m) winner Covertly (Metal Storm) and 2007 G3 Colonel Reeves Stakes (1200m) winner So Secret (Danetime).

That made War Of Whispers hot property at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions as the latest yearling from Dawson Stud’s blue-hen Most Secret (Bletchley Park).  Yarradale owner Ron Sayers had a paddock full of War Chants at home in Gidgegannup but wasn’t to be denied with a winning bid of $250,000 under the Belmont Park Grandstand.

War Of Whispers won a Pinjarra maiden but a hock injury curtailed her career as an early-season 3yo.  After Wubin Gold, she foaled Silent Amarda (Merchant Navy) who won a Lark Hill barrier trial last Tuesday for trainer Adam Durrant.

Yarradale and Dawson Stud have a Playing God – War Of Whispers weanling colt and the mare is back in foal to Darling View’s Champion Sire.  Yarradale manager Davy Hanratty reports the Playing God colt is shaping up as one of the ‘best in draft’ yearlings for the 2026 Perth Magic Millions.

Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) is standing for a $5,500 (inc GST) service fee at Yarradale this season.  Davy Hanratty can be contacted for bookings or further details on (08) 9574 6490 or 0429 326 904.

Hoofnote:  The Wubin Gold – Objectify dead-heat at Pinjarra was a win-win result for Yarradale.  Objectify’s older half-sister Miss Field (Deep Field) was a $50,000 buy for Yarradale at the 2024 Magic Millions Perth Winter Sale.  Miss Field won city races at Ascot (2) and Belmont and has a PPT to Playing God off a September cover last year.
