Strong support pointed to grey mare Point Of Luck breaking her duck at the Toodyay Cup meeting on Sunday and she responded with a last-to-first victory in the Rohan Jewellers Hcp (1850m).
Point Of Luck was the best part of a dozen lengths off the pace before making a move down the back to be in contention turning for home. She kept up a strong gallop in the straight to nail the favourite His Eminence (Blackfriars) much to the delight of trainer Gino Poletti and his wife Bethany who manages a large syndicate of family and friends.
She was backed from $9.50 into $4.40 second-up after putting the writing on the wall with an eye-catching third when signing off her previous prep at Pinjarra. “Point of Luck finally found the winners circle with Brandon (Louis) in the saddle today,” Poletti posted on Facebook.
“Thanks team and our owners. It's always fun working and racing with great people. Also thanks to Dean White for doing their chiro.”
Point Of Luck was bred by Yarradale Stud and Greenfields Lodge using former Yarradale Stud sire Bradbury's Luck (Redoute’s Choice) over Apache Point (High Chaparral) who is a close relation of Special Harmony (G1 VRC Oaks), King Canute (G2 Perth Cup) and Redwoldt (G2 Karrakatta Plate).
Apache Point is also the dam of Apache Pass (War Chant) who had been placed in a LR Lex Piper Stakes (1600m) at Ascot before transferring off-shore to win three races for trainer Paul O’Sullivan in Hong Kong. Her latest foal is a yearling colt by Playing God.
Yarradale Stud is standing Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) alongside Shooting To Win (Northern Meteor) this season and they both carry $5,500 (inc GST) service fees. For all enquiries contact Stud Manager Davy Hanratty on 0429 336 904.
