War Chant (USA) had only been back at Yarradale Stud for a couple of days when his dynamic filly Court Dancer bolted in by 8 lengths on debut at Saratoga on Wednesday.

Court Dancer (2f War Chant - Gosh All Get Out by d'Accord) beat a field of first starters over 1100 metres clocking 64.97 seconds.  She was hard to load and went down on her knees at the start but recovered quickly to lead and win as she pleased.

“You never know with a first-timer but we knew she was fast and she really showed it,” owner Dan Collins said after the filly landed a 6-1 to 3-1 gamble.  “I didn’t expect her to win so easily and it looks like she can even run longer.  We’ve got one with a good future on our hands.”

Collins operates Bona Venture Stables and paid $35,000 for the winner at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton New York yearling sale.  “We haven’t talked too much about where to go.  We will give her a few weeks, make sure she’s OK, and then decide what’s next.”

War Chant (Danzig) will lead the stallion parade at Yarradale’s open day this Sunday, August 25.  His first Sunspeed-bred yearlings will be catalogued for the 2014 Perth Magic Millions.

“War Chant travelled better this year than ever before and he settled straight back into familiar surroundings,” Yarradale bloodstock adviser Grant Burns reported.  “He’s a magnificent stallion.  A rich brown standing 16.2 hands with a faultless conformation and a beautiful head.

“This is his third book of a three-year deal so we encourage breeders to make sure they don’t miss out in 2013.  We hope to have him back next season but that may not happen if his USA owners decide against shuttling him in future.”

Yarradale offers a wide-range of discounts to broodmare owners this year.  For further information call the stud office on (08) 9574 6490.
