Yarradale Stud stallion War Chant (USA) sired his 34th stakes winner when Court Dancer scored by a neck in the LR Broadway Stakes (1200m) at Aqueduct on Sunday.

The front-running mare had her lead eroded in the final furlong but kept to business to deny Willet (Jump Start).  “She broke good and went right along,” jockey Irad Ortiz said.  “I just tried to relax her so we could save something for the end.  She was ready when I asked her in the stretch.”

Court Dancer was originally raced by Daniel Collins after making $35,000 at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton New York-bred yearling sale.  She won a juvenile maiden on debut at Saratoga and her record now reads 6 wins in 21 starts for earnings of $324,868.

“I have to give all the credit to Irad,” trainer Rudy Rodriguez said.  “She looked pretty good the first quarter-mile and finished strong.  She running well and seems to be peaking for us right about now.”

Court Dancer (5m War Chant - Gosh All Get Out by D’Accord) was bred at Akindale Farm in New York and is one of five winners from a sister to stakes winner Jay’s Crown.  Second-dam Emiress (Damascus) is a sister to multiple Group winners Honorable Miss and Bail Jumper.

Just hours before the USA black-type, War Chant sired the latest new winner from his first southern crop with Major Mambo at Pinjarra.

The Lou Luciani trained gelding was racing first-up after an 18-week spell in the Coral Bay Bakery Maiden (1412m).  He’s a homebred for Dick Vincent’s De Grey Park and is a half-brother to WA Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Cadenza (Oratorio).

War Chant (Danzig) was Champion Sunspeed first-season sire in 2015-16 and that crop have continued in same vein winning 12 three year-old races and $418,600 this season.

Victorian based Silent Sedition is potentially the best of them and she is due to return after winning a Cranbourne barrier trial on Monday.  The Andrew Noblet trained filly was last seen finishing an unlucky fourth in the G2 Moonee Valley Classic (1600m) in October.
