Gingerbread Man filly Perfect Sister booked a place in the G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) following a very impressive debut at Ascot on Saturday.
Trainer Dan Morton and Greenfields Lodge owner-breeder Tony Patrizi discussed the pros and cons of a seven-day turnaround and agreed to back her up this weekend. She has drawn the rails in the $500,000 feature race and has opened at $15 in pre-post markets.
“Tony and I had a chat and it helps that she has the right demeanour,” Morton explained. “We were going to run at Pinjarra last week but the prizemoney wouldn’t have been enough to get her into the Karrakatta.
Perfect Sister (2f Gingerbread Man - Corrilya by Blackfriars) looked every inch the professional defeating Statewide (Tassort) and Deltason (I'm All The Talk) first-up in the Pepsi Max Plate (1000m).
“I’ve always liked her and she came here after just the one trial,” Morton added. “She had a bunny to chase today and it was a good win as she was all out half-way down the straight.”
Yarradale Stud resident Gingerbread Man ticked off a Karrakatta Plate victory with Ima Single Man in 2020 and there’s more juvenile black-type under her dam Corrilya. She is a half-sister to Cadenza (Oratorio) who won the RL Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m) in 2014.
Perfect Sister is the first foal to race from Corrilya and the mare has a yearling colt by Manhattan Rain. She was bred by the late Dick Vincent as was her close relation Barely A Moment (Gilded Time) who was a multiple Melbourne Group 1 winner for Lindsay Park.
Gingerbread Girl (3f Gingerbread Man - I Am Boudica by War Chant) can get the Anzac Day long weekend off to a winning start in the Swan Draught Hcp (1000m) at Pinjarra this Friday. She is raced in partnership by Greenfields Lodge and Yarradale Stud and is coming off a first-up Albany maiden win last month for trainer Ryan Hill.
Yarradale bred I Am Boudica to win the Bunbury Classic (1000m) in 2016 and Greenfields has her latest Playing God colt on the ground at Capel.
