Jockey Rudy Rodriguez partnered Frost Giant to win the G1 Suburban Hcp at Belmont Park in 2008 and they linked again with What The Frost at Saratoga on Sunday.

What The Frost (3f Frost Giant – Liege by Theatrical) won a 1400m allowance against older mares with front-running tactics that triggered a two length victory.  The filly is trained by Rodriguez for Sunrise Stables and she had won a Belmont Park maiden in July.

Rodriguez retired from the saddle in 2010 and has been an instant success as a trainer with the likes of Vyjack who won the G2 Jerome Stakes and G3 Gotham Stakes before an unplaced effort in this year’s Kentucky Derby.

What The Frost is raced by owner-breeder Andrew Cohen of Sunrise Stables and has earned over $105,000 from a 7: 2-2-0 record.  She is the third winner for USA bred mare Liege.  Second-dam Demonry (Devil's Bag) was a Listed winner of the Spring Bonnet Stakes.

Frost Giant (Giant’s Causeway) paraded at Yarradale Stud for the first time on Sunday alongside fellow shuttler War Chant (Danzig).  He will stand for $9,900 (inc gst) service fee.

War Chant filly Enchanting Lisa was placed in a 1600m allowance on the same card at Saratoga.  She was coming off an eye-catching maiden win in June but was pocketed until late in the straight on Sunday.
