Yarradale Stud sire Discorsi had his first two year-old on show at Tuesday’s Belmont Park trials.

His newcomer Settlers Creek was beaten a nose by Crown Choice (Not A Single Doubt) in an impressive hit-out.  “He’s a cracking type and a big, strong individual just like his sire,” Yarradale bloodstock adviser Grant Burns said.   “He has a terrific action and led them up before working to the line under no pressure.  It was an eye-catching trial.”

Settlers Creek (2g Discorsi - Three Sisters by Nuclear Freeze) is part-owned and trained by Colin Webster for Paz and Michelle Princi.  He’s an August foal and Yarradale owner Ron Sayers kept a share after selling him for $41,000 at the 2013 Perth Magic Millions.

Three Sisters won two Canberra sprints and she is a half-sister to Group winners Coolroom Candidate (AJC Sapphire Stakes) and Belus (Grafton Cup).

Topping the Discorsi leader-board at the yearling sales earlier this year was the colt from La Melba (Grand Lodge).  He was a $110,000 buy for Stephen Miller and is a half-brother to Darley’s G3 winning mare Raspberries.

Discorsi (Galileo) was a Listed winner of the VRC Gibson-Carmichael 2YO Stakes at Flemington for owner-breeder Keith Biggs.  He’s a half-brother to G1 winning mare Sea Siren and Champion Sunspeed sire Oratorio.

There were 74 foals in his first crop and he is currently covering a fourth book for a $5,500 fee.

Yarradale offers a wide-range of discounts to broodmare owners this year.  For further information call the stud office on (08) 9574 6490.
