Yarradale Stud completed a city double with Flying Time (Heritage) and De Jersey (De Troy) last week and a third winner arrived when Jestpatim (Patronize) saluted at Belmont on Wednesday.

Jestpatim (4g Patronize – Jestceny by Real Jester) came with a perfectly-timed finish to win the Twitter / Perth Racing Hcp (1200m) for trainer David Harrison and stable apprentice Renee Forrest.

Patronize stands at Darling View Stud in Mundijong for a syndicate that includes Darling View owners Clive and Brent Atwell along with Yarradale Stud’s Ron Sayers and Geisel Park’s Eddie Rigg.

A three-quarter brother to Exceed And Excel, he had ability to burn but was hampered by a persistent hoof injury.  He bolted in on debut at Gosford and then went close the breaking Marauding’s 1200m track record at Newcastle during a one and only campaign.

Trainer Tim Martin believed he had the potential to be a Group horse but with only a couple of provincial wins to his credit has had to do it the hard way at stud.

Patronize (Redoute’s Choice) sired a winner from his only starter after covering a handful of mares at Kia-Ora Stud in the Hunter Valley.  He transferred west to Canardly Farm in Serpentine before moving on to Darling View Stud.

Jestpatim was his first Sunspeed winner as a summer two year-old at Ascot.  “I’m a big rap for Patronize,” Harrison said back in February 2012.  “He has a future as a stallion.”

That prediction was shared by Sayers and Rigg.  They weighed in with an offer that saw his book increase to 50 plus mares last year with additions from Yarradale and Geisel Park.

Patronize will stand for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee at Darling View Stud in 2014.
