Gingerbread Man has another winner waiting in the wings following the impressive return of his flag-bearer Achernar Star on the weekend.

The Yarradale Stud sire has well-bred 3yo Ginger Jones ready to break through in Victoria on Thursday.  Trainer Andrew Noblet has entered the half-brother to Group 1 winner Silent Sedition for the TAC 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m) at Moe.

Noblet prepared Silent Sedition (War Chant) and returned to last year’s Perth Magic Millions yearling sale to buy Ginger Jones for $170,000.  The good-looking chestnut faced the starter for the first time at Ballarat a fortnight ago and was only nailed in the final stages by Written Tycoon colt Spielberg.

The winner was thought good enough to back up against Victoria’s best 3yo colts in the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield on Wednesday.

“We’ve been looking forward to his next start,” Noblet said.  “We were very pleased how he went in a Caulfield jump-out last month and he pulled up well after finishing second at Ballarat.”

Meanwhile, Achernar Star’s first-up victory at Bunbury on Saturday confirmed he’s back to the form that earned a Group 1 placing in the Kingston Town Classic last year.  “He had been working well and when he hit the ground running, I knew he was on his game,” trainer Simon Miller said.  “It’s great to have him back.”

Achernar Star (4g Gingerbread Man - Morine by Danetime) shouldered 59.5kg to win first-up over 1400m from WATC Derby winner Action.  “He’s been a model of consistency,” Miller added.  “His only unplaced runs were during that last prep when a virus swept through the stable.

“He’s got a long campaign ahead and we will head to the Northam Cup before Ascot.  He’s on a path to the Railway Stakes and Kingston Town and we might even stretch him out to the Cox Stakes.”

Gingerbread Man is one of 123 stakes winners by Darley champion Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) and he stands for a $4,400 service fee at Yarradale Stud.  War Chant ($11,000) heads the roster with Bradbury’s Luck, Heritage and Vital Equine (Rosalee Stud) also priced at $4,400.  All fees (inc GST).
