Ima Single Gal put her best foot forward with a front-running victory for Yarradale Stud’s Lyn Sayers and Gangemi Racing at Ascot on Wednesday.

The homebred 3yo daughter of Gingerbread Man also increased her residual value in the Unite Resourcing Maiden (1200m).  She kicked off the corner to establish a winning margin for Brad Parnham and was still a length in advance of quick-closer Playball (Playing God) at the judge.

Ima Single Gal is a full-sister to Ima Single Man who won the G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) in 2020 for Yarradale and Gangemi Racing.  Their dam Single Spice (Not A Single Doubt) has now foaled six winners with more in the pipeline at Gidgegannup.

“I told Chris (Gangemi) we should step her up to 1200m and hope for a soft lead because she’s been switching off with cover,” Parnham said.

“I was able to keep her interested in front and she pinched a break at the top of the straight.  Hopefully, she can go on and realise her full potential.”

Gingerbread Man is in career-best form this season and Single Spice has been a wonderful producer for Yarradale.

She was raced by Peter Bell and Ray Meadowcroft to a front-running victory in the LR Supremacy Stakes (1000m) at Ascot in 2011 and was then run down by Night War (General Nediym) when fourth in that year’s G2 Karrakatta Plate.

Single Spice has been tested in foal to Playing God this season and her yearling filly by Toronado (Ire) will be part of the Yarradale draft to the 2024 Perth Magic Millions.

Her unnamed 2yo filly by Blue Point (Ire) topped this year’s Perth Magic Millions when making $350,000 to the bid of Grant and Alana Williams in association with bloodstock agent Suman Hedge.  “She’s been in pre-training and will go out for a break on Wednesday,” Grant Williams reported on Friday morning.

“I said she looked a forward filly at the Magic Millions and she’s been working that way.  She will have a few weeks off and then we will give her a chance to go early.”

Yarradale filled out a running-double on Wednesday with Smokey Mountain in the Bisley Workwear Hcp (1100m).  The Oratorio - Frizzled (Dehere) gelding was bred at Yarradale and sold for $210,000 to Vern Brockman at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions.

Gingerbread Man (Shamardal) stands for $5,500 at Yarradale Stud alongside War Chant (Danzig) at $8,250.  Both fees (inc GST).
