Yarradale Stud homebred Platinum Shot is in pole position for the 2025 WA Provincial Championship Series Final in May after nailing Heat 4 at Narrogin on Sunday.

Platinum Shot (4m Shooting To Win - Platinum Power by Commands) raced into contention coming to the home-turn and then clicked into overdrive for Tash Faithfull to establish a two-length margin despite the steadier of 59.5kg and easing from $3.30 out to $5.

The Pearce Racing mare held them at bay under a hold to run out an impressive winner from Like No Other (Ducimus) and Speed Bubble (Demerit) in Sunday’s Heat at Narrogin which was transferred from York.

Platinum Shot joins prior qualifiers Zac Luvs To Fly (Galah), Close At Hand (Impending) and First Law (Dalghar) ahead of the $100,000 Final which will be run at Belmont on Saturday, May 17.

“She’s come back in great shape to land her second win from three starts this prep,” Pearce Racing posted on Facebook.  “And she’s been a model of consistency throughout her career with four wins and nine placings for earnings of $145,000.”

Platinum Shot had earned black-type at two when runner-up in the LR Supremacy Stakes (1000m) in March 2023 and she could be considered unlucky not to have completed a hat-trick at Narrogin.  She won first-up at Albany in February and then attacked the line from a long way back to go down narrowly in the race won by So Nataya (So You Think) at Ascot on March 12.

“That was a strong field today and she won it on ability,” Faithfull said after weighing in.  “She chopped and changed legs and didn’t really handle the track early on but then she picked up the bridle at the 600m and got the job done.

"She's been flying for the (Pearce) boys and they’ve been giving me heaps of opportunities.”

Faithfull piloted Manavendra (Deep Field) to his first win in 12 months for the stable at Albany on Thursday and he followed Ascot winner Sinful Living (Safeguard) from the previous Saturday.  Faithfull had kicked off March with a double for Dan and Ben Pearce aboard Desert Edge (Fiorente) and Scenic Boom (Snippetson) at Narrogin.

Peace Racing had purchased Platinum Shot for $55,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions and Yarradale Stud’s Lyn Sayers kept a share in a stable partnership.  She’s by Oakland Park sire Shooting To Win and her dam Platinum Power (Commands) has a yearling filly by Sessions and a weanling colt by Lightsaber.

Second-dam Verse (Quest for Fame) was sourced at a Darley Reduction Sale in 2010 and her most successful WA foal was G3 WA Oaks (2400m) winner Lady Chant (War Chant) who was raced by Yarradale and Singapore owner Constance Cheng.

The remaining WA Provincial Championship Heats will be run at Narrogin (April 10), Geraldton (April 13), Albany (April 27), Pinjarra (May 1), Kalgoorlie (May 3) and Northam (May 11).
